poodlepedigree.com policy on designer dogs
this database is only for PUREBRED POODLES

There will be NO links to web sites that have information about ANY designer dog.
I don't care if you are breeding purebred Poodles and some other kind of designer dog, it will NOT be allowed.  I can't keep out purebred Poodles registered with the AKC, but if you use these dogs for breeding any kind of designer dog NO information will be included on the pedigree. Any dogs belonging to people who breed designer dogs will be LOCKED.

I expect all purebred fanciers to let me know when they find any information/link
to a producer of designer dogs on this database.

You MUST enter your first and last name and following: CITY and COUNTRY OR REGION are required fields. STATE OR PROVINCE is also a required field if the country is USA. For a state, please use the two-letter state code.

Once you have filled in the registration and click “register” the next page will allow you to validate your account yourself, just click the VALIDATE NOW link.

You will receive an email at the email address you used to register with a link to click to validate your account with a subject line of “Account validation”.

There is a new link of instructions on registering:

http://www.poodlepedigree.com/REGISTERACCOUNT.HTM

Once registered you can login to your account and update the database;  edit dogs, edit a dog’s parents, add a dog, correct the spelling of the dog’s name, add titles, birth and death dates, clearance information, variety, and color.

When entering a dogs name into the database:

Make sure you check for duplicates FIRST!!!

Go to this page: http://www.poodlepedigree.com/editquery.asp

And enter a part of the name you are looking for:

i.e. Ravendune Patriot Games

First enter Ravendune in the Registered name: field and click submit. This will return all dogs with Ravendune in their name. Then check on Raven. Just repeat the process.  Then check on Patriot and repeat the process. Then check for Game. You are looking to see if there are any misspelled duplicates already in the database.

Someone could have entered this dog in any number of ways  Raven Dune or Ravendane or Patriots.

Please do not enter the correct spelling as another record. You will only be entering a DUPLICATE RECORD.

If there is already a misspelled record for the dog you want to enter, go to the edit dog page by clicking on the Edit information for  link at the bottom of the page and correct the spelling of the record already in the database.

On the edit dog page you can correct the spelling of the dog’s name, add titles, birth and death dates, clearance information, variety, and color.

Once you have determined the dog is not in the database you can enter the dogs name.

Once you know there is no record of the dog you wish to enter you may enter the correct spelling in Mixed Case in the search field of the default page. The database is no longer in UPPERCASE ONLY.

http://www.poodlepedigree.com/default.asp

This will take you to the page where you will be asked if you want to add this dog to the database.

Regarding COLOR designation. If you do not own the dog you are entering, please list the color as it appears on the AKC Registration.

If you OWN or BRED the dog and you know the color is different than it appears on the AKC Registration you may enter the color you know the dog to be.

If you (as the OWNER or BREEDER) enter a different color than that on the AKC Registration, please also enter a note to that effect; i.e.

Reg'd clr BLCK actl clr BLUE per INT's (owner) or (breeder)

INT's would be your initials. You should have room if you abbreviate, there are 50 spaces allotted to the color field.

This will enable us to maintain uniformity in appearance when pedigrees are printed.

Instructions on how to verify data:

You should have several browser windows open at once while you are entering data into the database.

Use www.offa.org  www.akc.org/store as two places to make sure the registration information, spelling of the name, sire and dam, birthdate, and color are correct.

If the AKC shows the dogs name to be spelled differently than you have it recorded PLEASE USE THE SPELLING THE AKC HAS!

At www.offa.org you can also just copy and paste the clearance information. The best way to reduce the amount of keywhacking and error is to just copy and paste the info straight from the web site.

To find a dog on the OFA site you will search for the name much as you do on www.poodlepedigree.com

Many times the dog’s name is spelled incorrectly on OFA. If you find a mistake on the OFA database, use their contact info and let them know about the mistake.

Copy and paste the info from the AKC site and the OFA will correct it in their database.

If you find duplicate records on a dog PLEASE check with the AKC database for the correct spelling and change the offspring that are attached to the duplicate record to the correct record and then request the duplicate and/or incorrect spelling be deleted. There is a place to request a delete on the edit dog page.

If the duplicate is a true duplicate and the same pedigree window opens no matter which name you click on from the query page you will have to make a significant change to the duplicate in order to transfer the offspring to the correct record. An easy way to do this is through the edit dog page and just add XX before the dog's name i.e. xxCHERRYWOOD'S N WENDYS DIPLOMAT

This will allow you to view both pedigree pages and transfer the offspring to the correctly spelled CHERRYWOOD N WENDYS DIPLOMAT

Instructions for using the AKC Store:

You must first create an account here:

 http://www.akc.org/store/account/index.cfm?action=register

Once you have created your account, sign on and go here:

 http://www.akc.org/store/ and click on Pedigrees/Reports

 http://www.akc.org/store/reports/index.cfm

There are 5 different reports you can order from the AKC, but you can click on the pedigrees or reports icons and actually search the AKC database for any dog.

It is easiest if you have the AKC registration number, if you are searching by name you may have to try a couple different combinations just like you do on the www.poodlepedigree.com before you find the name.

I use the “reports” page only because it lets you also check to see how many breed points and title legs the dog has.

 http://www.akc.org/store/reports/dog/index.cfm

View Points/Summary of the Title Progression for this dog.
